As the Expert- Strategy Planning you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and updating templates, models, presentations to support the strategic planning. Provide benchmarking, market and competitive insights. Detect and track long-term trends

Core Responsibilities:

You will be responsible of budgeting process preparation, tools and templates. support in facilitating the company’s annual planning process, establishing and maintaining market projections model including macro-economic indicators, market and competitor indicators, assessing Ooredoo Oman performance and strategy implementation, establishing and maintaining strategy review dashboard, reviewing and updating structure of internal financial and operational models as information emerges and new requirements are presented, assessing BU inputs through comparison with benchmark, industry and market trends, Identifying divergences and challenge BUs assumptions, preparing deep-structure interviews with the senior management as part of the internal assessment, developing strategic and financial analysis to evaluate strategic options, ensuring consistency of the 3YP financial template and resource allocation to the key projects, developing 3YP and AOP presentation slides and data gathering, interacting with the different areas, consolidating operational plan, develop dynamic tables to identify and communicate dependencies to each FUs, supporting strategy execution and scorecards development cascaded down to the organisation and preparing strategy communication plan.

Responsibilities shall also include the following:

  • Supporting in the development and implementation of a process to track long term “early warning signals” for emerging opportunities and/ or threats.
  • Researching, analysing and categorising information.
  • Identifying potential opportunities and threats and populate radar screens as per defined criteria.
  • Performing strategic analysis / assessment  & defines  trackers / KPIs for monitoring purpose.
  • Creating alignment with Stake-holders.
  • Creating dashboard for opportunities/threats and Stablishes KPIs for follow-up.
  • Conducting deep dives / scenario analysis on alerted Opportunities  / Threats.
  • Recommending strategic approach  to capitalise on opportunities and mitigate the  threats.
  • Developing market performance monitoring presentation, identify operators performance and market trends, develop  insights and align with BUs.
  • Developing a comprehensive competitive profile for main competitors covering all aspects of the business. Asses their perceive strategy and identify quick-wins. Developing in depth financial analysis of key competitors.
  • Overseeing competitive Intelligence process internally, gathering all relevant information, facilitating working team assessment and development of competitive insights. Evaluate competitors next moves and OO potential root of action.
  • Establishing and maintaining a benchmarking database, which includes comparison and performance review of other telecom operators. Identify and update KPIs to be monitor.
  • Evaluating Ooredoo Oman 3YP assumptions compared to the benchmark. Identifying trends and develop view-points in alignment with other areas and Ooredoo Group.
  • Improving quality of reporting and data, by working with reporting teams, data warehouse teams to identify reporting needs, define report specifications, and develop reports to meet management needs.
  • Supporting market research and analyses. Providing technical and research support for development of market research and analyses.
  • Supporting analysis of BC for Strategic projects and support innovations (new businesses set-up).
The Person:

You should have bachelors degree in business, engineering or related discipline with 6 years’ commercial experience is required, with significant telecom exposure.  A strong grasp of the financial and operational KPIs of the telecom industry is required.

Skills Required:
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements and do quantitative assessments.
  • Experience in business planning processes in different working environments.

  • Ability to apply forecasting techniques, develop and evaluate business goals and strategies.

  • Familiar will all areas of telecom industry and strong technical and commercial background.

  • Highly flexible, with an ability to work in a changing environment.

  • Ability to work independently, adapt to change and manage multiple priorities.

  • Willing to work for extended hours. 

  • Ability and acumen to make senior management presentations.

  • Strong written and oral communication.

  • Strong analytical skills and Conflict/issue resolution.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Project and Visio.

  • Experience in building financial and valuation models.
